The mighty Torre dei Consorti (5 Lungarno Acciaioli ) gave, in fact, shelter to 18 families. Today it is incorporated in the Hotel Continentale and houses elegant rooms.. while the most picturesque one is the Belfredelli tower at number 9, with its façade covered in ivy and romantically overlooking the Arno river. The top floor of the tower was added well after the 14th Century. Torre dei Barbadori is just across the street. This tower was built in 12th Century by the Barbadori a prominent family of merchants.

In Borgo San Jacopo there are Torre dei Marsili (Marsili's Tower) and Torre dei Belfredelli (Belfredelli's Tower), both dating back to the 12th century. In Via de' Ramaglianti once there was a synagogue. In Via de' Bardi the signs of the bombs thrown on this part of the city during World War II are still well visible.

Belfredelli family erected it in 12th Century and owned other buildings in the surroundings. The uppermost floor of the tower was added well after 14th Century. Behind this tower is the even taller Ramaglianti tower: it seems built on the back of the Belfredelli tower, but between the two buildings is a centimeter-wide air space.

Torre dei Belfredelli The Belfredelli Tower at Borgo San Jacopo 9 is said to be one of the best preserved medieval towers in all of Florence. It's just off the Ponte Vecchio bridge and you can easily recognise the tower from its dense cover of ivy in the lower part.
